Breakfast in the crockpot

Well my first post is going to be on the 2 recipes I got from my board "Love My Crockpot"  for overnight breakfast. I would put it in the crockpot before bed, let it cook overnight and wake up to a warm, cooked breakfast. The idea was awesome to me because my husband wakes up and leaves for work before me and our daughter even get up. I wanted to try it because it would be nice for him to have a warm breakfast in the morning before he leaves.

Well the first one I tried was this egg and sausage thing. I put it in the crockpot on Wednesday night and all night I was just nauseated by the smell lol.....I mean really I can't imagine anyone enjoying it, but then again it could just be me. Feel free to try these recipes for yourself. So I had already decided I didn't want to make it again because I couldn't take the smell :/............so when I woke up the next morning I tried it and the verdict......drum roll please........it wasn't too bad, but not something I would make again! It wasn't worth it to me. My husband and sister-in-law(who lives here with us, along with my brother) said they really didn't care for it either......so recipe #1 is out.

The 2nd one I put in the crockpot last night, so we could have it this morning. No smell really came from this one so I was perfectly fine with that. It was a recipe for crockpot Cinnamon Apple Oatmeal.......sounds good, right? That's what I thought too :/.......boy was I wrong. This was a fail as well. It was completely tasteless. I even added a little more sugar and it was still gross. So once again I failed at the overnight breakfast. recipe #2 is out too.

I still have more I want to try and will......hopefully one day I can find a good one and get it right. Here are the recipes just in case you want to try at your own risk lol.................

Recipe #1
Crockpot Sausage Breakfast Casserole
1 pack of frozen shredded hashbrown potatoes
1 pack of sausage, crumbled
2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup parmesian cheese(which I left out because I hate parmesian)
1/2 cup sun dried tomatoes
6 green onions
12 Eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1. Spray a 6 quart slow cooker with cooking spray. Layer 1/2 of the potatoes on the bottom of slow cooker.
2. Top with half of the sausage, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, sun dried tomatoes and green onion. Repeat layering.
3. Beat eggs, milk salt and pepper in large bowl with a wire whisk until well blended.
4. Pour evenly over potato-sausage mixture.
5. Cook on low setting for 8 hours or on high setting for 4 hours or until eggs are set.
Cook’s Tip: Substitute 1 cup chopped fresh tomato for sun dried tomatoes, if desired.

Recipe #2
Slow Cooker Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal
2 sliced apples
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
2 cups oatmeal
4 cups of water

Throw the first 3 ingredients in the bottom of the crockpot and the oatmeal on top. Pour the 4 cups of water in on top. DO NOT stir. cook on low for 8-9 hours. Stir and then eat.

Maybe someone else will like these, but for me it just wasn't happening.

Happy pinning everyone :D

That's why I decided to make this blog. I am dedicating this whole blog to things I try off my pinterest. I will do a blog post for each one and let you know how everything turned out and whether (in my opinion) it's a YAY or NAY.
